Lancaster SEO - Search Engine Optimization in Lancaster, South Carolina

So if you read our first blog post you may have heard the funny little story about the SEO market in Lancaster, PA.  Great, wasn't it?

But alas, this site does have a legitimate purpose for being.  Lancaster, PA is about a 90 minute drive from Baltimore, MD, and as Baltimore's premier SEO firm, we feel we're in the best position to offer SEO services to businesses in Lancaster, PA.

But it doesn't end there.  Oh no.

We also have an office located about 15 miles south of Charlotte, NC, in the Fort Mill area.  While we may be new to the region, we're quickly establishing our firm as one of the top Charlotte SEO companies, and by our count we're one of only 2 or 3 SEO firms in Fort Mill, SC (hi Eric).  So how does that relate to Lancaster SEO?  Well wouldn't you know there is a lovely town by the name of Lancaster, SC located about 25 miles south of Fort Mill.  No doubt, we're rocking the Lancaster, SC SEO scene too.

There you have it.

Lancaster SEO - Why This Site?

Welcome to our new Lancaster SEO site.  Hi Dave.  And other Dave.  And whoever else.

God I'm such a geek.  I'm way too excited about this, and my wife is going to kill me for spending time building this site when I've been coming home late the past few months b/c I'm so behind on my client work right now.  She'll seriously kick my ass.  Please help me.  This is totally not something I should be spending time doing.  But its fun.  Way more fun than the real work I have on my list.

So here's a little background for you…

Background

Today in a random link building research and web browsing tangent that started around 5:00am I came across a site about these three guys, Rory, Steve and Dave .  They started a site called Get My Home's Value , which is a lead generation site in the real estate market.  From what I gather, these three dudes were real estate investors that got into the web space a ways back, had a good bit of success, and then started an SEO firm based in Lancaster, PA.  From what everything I see about them, they seem like real smart, competent guys.  Kudos.  I'm sure their site provides more details here, but I "skim" more than I actually "read".  Who cares though?  You are probably just skimming this anyway.

So I've actually seen their site before, a few times, but never thought much of it.  I recalled a great link building chart they created a while back that I had taped to my wall before we recently moved offices.  It was well done.  Again, kudos to them.  But that's not the point here.

What interested me today was the story behind these guys, rather than what they do.  There are a tremendous number of similarities between "them" and "me and my crew".  Let's take a look:

Them

  • 3 dudes
  • have a lead gen site in the real estate vertical
  • own an SEO firm
  • "started" in early 2004
  • one dude is definitely shorter than the other two
  • based in Lancaster, PA

Us

  • 3 dudes
  • have a few lead gen sites in the home improvement vertical
  • own an SEO firm
  • "started" in late 2003
  • one dude is definitely shorter than the other two
  • based in Baltimore, MD and Washington DC metro area, about 1.5 hours away from "them"

So Who the Heck is Writing This?

I'm Jon Payne . I run a small but awesome 3-person SEO agency that has offices in Baltimore, MD and Charlotte, NC.  We also do a lot of work in the DC area too.  We have a pretty good presence and network in the Baltimore area, and we have been keeping pretty busy lately.

I've been doing SEO full-time through Ephricon since 2003/2004.  We've been ranking pretty high for things like Baltimore SEO for several years, and just started going after things like Charlotte SEO for our new office, as well as DC SEO which I decided I wanted to rank for yesterday.  The flavor of the day though would be Lancaster SEO , because that is what the two Daves are going after.  Of course we do have a site about Altoona SEO too, and since neither Altoona nor Lancaster are very far from our Baltimore base, I suppose I justify the time spent on this by calling it a local marketing tactic.  There's no reason not to work with a client in Lancaster…

So why did I write "us" in the above comparison, but then only talk about myself?  Well "I" run the SEO agency with two employees, and the "us" part refers to a "side business" that I have which focuses on online lead generation .  I own this business along with my two partners, Ryan Corey and Tony Scuderi . We formed this business in early 2006 and grew a site in the home improvement vertical fairly nicely, given that we had no money to invest and very little time as well, as all three of us have other full-time gigs.  In 2007 we hired a full-time employee and started turning a modest profit, and in mid-2008 we were approached about selling the site.  We accepted an offer and sold the site, and decided to take some of the money from the sale and re-invest it, building a few new home improvement lead generation sites in its place.

So this post has been very long-winded, but that's just how I am.  Sorry.  Well not really, being long-winded in writing tends to actually be a benefit in the SEO industry.

So Why this Lancaster SEO Site?

My purpose here is roughly two-fold:

  1. Introduce myself to the ProspectMX guys, without using the typical email or phone call.
  2. Have a little fun seeing if this site will join the rankings for the Lancaster SEO keyword they seem to be targeting and competing for.

About the Domain Name

This is the funny part.  Hopefully.

I found a post on the ProspectMX site about a contest or sorts to see whether this Dave or that Dave (er David, my bad) could rank #1 in Google for Lancaster SEO.  There is even a pretty funny video where Dave trashes Dave in what I presume is his attempt at "video SEO" for that keyword phrase.

So after reading the post and watching the video I thought Why didn't either of these guys register the domain lancasterseo.com? Surely they know about exact-match domains …  So I went to GoDaddy and checked it.  Damn.  It was taken.  Double damn, it was only registered 2 weeks ago!  Oh my miserable luck.  But wait a minute , I thought.  I registered a bunch of domains related to SEO in Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago when a family friend contacted me about some business advice .  Sure enough, I am the guy who registered it 2 weeks ago.  Props to self .
